AGE UK NEED YOU!
Get set for Autumn and Winter! Age UK shop in The Grove Centre calls on people to join the 2022 Challenge by having a clear-out!
With the weather cooling down and Summer finally at an end, Age UK is encouraging local people to make room for their Autumn and Winter wardrobes by having a clear-out and donating any unwanted, good-quality items.
Whether it’s the kaftan you wore on your holiday, the wedges you only needed for a summer wedding or the sunglasses you no longer wear, the Age UK shop in The Grove Centre urgently needs your unwanted items as it enters the final part of the Charity’s 2022 Challenge.
Age UK’s 2022 Challenge aims to help the Charity’s shops receive 2.2 million bags of donations by the end of the year. The Charity is turning every bag into more support for older people, with items sold on to be loved again and funds raised going towards national services such as Age UK’s Advice Line and its Telephone Friendship Services.
Age UK has so far received over 1.7 million bags, which have been donated to its charity shops across the country. However, with only four months left to go, the Age UK shop in The Grove Centre urgently needs the help of the local community to help meet the target and is calling on everyone to have a clear out now the seasons have changed.
Lisa, Shop Manager at the Age UK shop in The Grove Centre said: “We’ve certainly experienced an unprecedented summer this year, but with the seasons finally changing it’s now time to get preparing our Autumn and Winter looks. That’s why we are calling on everybody in Witham to sort through last season’s wears and donate any unwanted, quality items to your local Age UK shop as part of our 2022 Challenge.”
“Not only is this a great time to have a sort out and part with any items that you don’t use anymore, but you’ll also be helping Age UK as we will turn every bag of donated items into bags more support for older people. So do have a big clear out and drop in your donation bags today!”
Age UK is also encouraging people to make their donations worth an extra 25% for the Charity by signing up to Gift Aid. Simply filling out a basic form when dropping off donations means Age UK will receive an extra 25p from the government for every £1 that is raised from donated goods and it won’t cost you a penny!
Age UK has over 250 shops across England and Wales, which rely on the local community’s generous donations to keep the shelves stocked and supported by a team of dedicated staff and volunteers. To find your nearest Age UK shop visit www.ageuk/shop
